Photography exhibition Ciekłe kryształy / Liquid Crystals

Main Library of Warsaw University of Technology organises an exhibition of photographs titled Ciekłe kryształy / Liquid Crystals. Their author is Marek Sutkowski, PhD, an employee of the Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics (Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, WUT) and a graduate of the Faculty of Mechatronics, WUT. The exhibition will feature boards with photographs of liquid crystals, photographed and graphically designed by the author. The captured images were created in nematic and smectic structures, recorded under a polarising microscope (magnifications 10-60x).

The exhibition will be on display from 15 November 2023 in Students Lending Room, ground floor, WUT Main Building (room 71) - during library opening hours.

About the Author
As part of his PhD, the author created one of the world's first optoelectronic reconstruction systems for digital holograms using liquid crystals, which enabled optical reconstruction of static and time-varying holograms (animations and films). Currently, he continues to work on the use of liquid crystals, optical measurement systems, problems of image registration, processing and image processing. He has been involved in photography since an early age. Marek Sutkowski's favourite field of photographic creativity is macro- and micro-photography.
